01What is MCP?
A standard way for AI to use your tools
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant use selected features of services you choose. Connect DocForge once and your assistant can work with the documents you can access.
You ask
Stay in your AI chat and ask in plain language.
DocForge acts
Finds, reads or edits documents and returns the result.
You stay in control
You approve access. Your password is never shared.
02How it works
Four steps, then it just works
The connection runs in the background. You approve it once and decide what each assistant is allowed to do.
- 1
Connect
Add DocForge to your AI app and sign in to your DocForge account.
- 2
Approve
Choose read-only or read & edit access on the DocForge consent screen.
- 3
Ask
Ask your assistant to find, read, explain or update a document.
- 4
Result
DocForge returns the answer or the approved change to your chat.
03Connect
Connect your AI app
Pick your app, follow the steps, then sign in to DocForge and approve access.
mcp.docforge.foxea.xyz/mcpClaude.ai and the Claude desktop app, using a custom connector.

- 3If asked about OAuth setup, choose Register automatically.
- 4Select Connect, sign in to DocForge and review the consent screen.
- 5In a chat, open + → Connectors and switch DocForge on.
04Try it
What to ask
Once DocForge is switched on in your chat, just ask. A few prompts to start with:
- Find
“List my DocForge documents.”
- Summarise
“Read my latest document and give me its outline.”
- Search
“Find my notes that mention Supabase.”
- Add
“Add a short checklist to my project plan.”
- Edit
“In my project plan, replace the old launch date with the new one.”
- Create
“Create a study document about database indexes with a few flashcards.”
05Formatting
Your formatting stays put
DocForge edits your document block by block, instead of flattening the page to plain text. These stay structured:
- Headings
- Nested lists
- Checklists
- Tables
- Links
- Colours & fonts
- Callouts
- Code blocks
- Diagrams
- Equations
- Flashcards
- Page layout
TipAsk for small, specific changes — replace a phrase, update one section, add a checklist — rather than rewriting the whole document.
06Privacy

07Help
Common questions
The connection page says access was denied
Start connecting DocForge again from your AI app, sign in with the right DocForge account and approve the request.
I'm connected but can't find a document
Check that you signed in with the DocForge account that owns the document, or that the document was shared with that account.
The app keeps asking me to connect again
Remove the old DocForge connection in your AI app, add the URL again and complete sign-in.
The assistant wants to edit a document
Review the requested change and the document first. If you don't want changes, keep the connection read-only or decline the action.

Look in its settings for MCP servers, connectors or integrations. It needs to support remote HTTP MCP servers with OAuth sign-in.
